The Picton River

The Picton RiverThis wild river at the edge of the South West World Heritage area lets you experience the exhilaration of fast-flowing rapids, while enjoying the majestic cool temperate rainforest. The section of the river is graded 2/3 and has several sections of challenging rapids.

Duration:

This trip usually requires a full day.The day starts at the Tahune Airwalk, around ninety minutes from Hobart, and you will spend around 3-4 hours on the water.

Price:

$620 for a day of rafting for four people. Additional rafters can be added for $155 per person. We require a 50% deposit payable at least five working days before departure, and full payment prior to departure.

Group Size:

1-70 people - we need a minimum of 4 people to book a trip, but individuals and smaller groups are welcome to join existing trips.

Package Includes:

Guides (one guide per 4-5 rafters), all rafting equipment and safety gear including helmets, wetsuits and personal floatation devices, $10M APRA approved public liability insurance, and a CD of digital photographs of the day.

Optional Extras:

We can provide transport to and from Hobart for $10 per person. Lunch can be arranged at the site for between $5 and $40 per person, ranging from salad rolls and fruit to gourmet Tasmanian produce.

Timetable:

This is available all year around, however we are dependent upon recent rainfall to provide enough water level to raft on. In the event that the water level is not high enough, we will raft on the Derwent River instead.

Recent Quote:

"What a fantastic way to experience Tasmania’s rainforests! The rapids (and water fights) were exciting, the guides were fun…Thanks again Aardvark!”
