SCHOOL GROUPS

Aardvark Adventures have nearly 30 years experience at providing exciting, educational and safe outdoor recreation programs to local and interstate students ranging from years 6 to 12.

We can arrange and facilitate programs ranging from one day rafting, caving or abseiling sessions to multi-day camps encompassing a range of activities and locations.

The locations we work in most frequently are the Arm River and Port Sorell areas in northern Tasmania, Hobart in southern Tasmania, and the Freycinet region on the east coast. These areas are described below, along with sample programs to show possible activities over the course of 4-8 days.

ARM RIVER

Arm River is located on the footsteps of the Walls of Jerusalem National Park and the Tasmanian World Heritage Area. The landscape is full of recreational possibilities, with alpine tracks, scenic waterfalls, grade 2-3 rapids, dark caves and high cliffs allowing for rafting, abseiling, caving and hiking activities. Students will stay at the Arm River Educational Centre, which provides dormitory-style accommodation, hot and cold running water and kitchen facilities.

FREYCINET

The Freycinet Peninsula is centrally located on Tasmania's East Coast. Highlights of the Freycinet National Park are the crystal clear waters and white sandy beach of Wineglass Bay and the stunning granite peaks in the area. White Water Wall, near Coles Bay, contains hundreds of climbing routes suitable for all levels of experience, and is easily accessed from the nearby camping area.

HOBART AND SOUTHERN TASMANIA

Southern Tasmania is fortunate to have temperate rainforests, wild rivers and magnificent coastlines within a short distance from Hobart, the main population centre. Hobart provides a great base for activities taking place in the Huon Channel or Derwent Valley regions. White water rafting and abseiling locations are found within ninety minutes of the city, in the heart of the World Heritage Area.

PORT SORELL

Situated on the central north coast of Tasmania, Port Sorell offers a range of beach activities, as well as providing easy access to the Mole Creek Karst National Park for activities such as caving, abseiling and white water rafting. Other facilities in the area include the Trowunna Wildlife Reserve, Narawntapu National Park and the fascinating 'town of murals', Sheffield.
